Vegetarian Dog Treats

2 ¾ cup flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

2 tablespoons bran

3 cups fresh minced parsley (helps freshen breath)

¼ cup shredded carrots

¼ cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, your choice)

2 tablespoons olive oil

½ teaspoon flaxseed (optional)

½ cup water


Start by preheating oven to 350 degrees. Next, get a cookie sheet and lightly grease it. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and bran. In separate bowl, combine parsley, shredded carrots, shredded cheese, olive oil and flaxseed. Work carrot/cheese mixture into dry mixture, slowly adding water as needed until dough becomes moist, not wet.

Knead dough for one minute. Roll dough out onto lightly floured surface until ¼" thick. Cut dog treat shapes from dough using any cookie cutters you have on hand. Place shaped dog treats onto greased baking sheet. Bake 20 - 30 minutes. Treats are done when browned and slightly hardened. As the treats cool, they'll continue hardening.
