Boy O Boy can I vouch for that! I have 3 pugs ages 5, 5, and 15. Btween the 3 of them I have spent over 13,000 dollars over the past 4 years. Life saving pyometra surgery and plasma transfusions. acute onset of ammune mediated retinitis which ultimatley left one of my 5 year old comlpletley blind. No specialist could have helped her. Misc collapsing trachea E.R visits at 500 dollars a visit. Adds up really fast! With all this said and done I wouldnt change any of my decisions to treat. I love my babies and spare no exspense when it comes to medical care.

Well I can honestly say that other than a infected tooth I have been blessed with Good Health for my puggy Emma! I haven’t had any unusually high expenses that you wouldnt incur from any pet.

I have owned shelties and now pugs, and I agree with Emma’s Mom. I have actually spent more on my shelties and one mutt than my pugs. My sheltie and mutt both had cancer. Any way all that to say that over the years I have learned to have a savings account just for pet health care. Pet insurance can help but you must do your research before you sign up and make sure it is right for you.
But then there is the money that one has to spend when first bringing the new family member home. We all know you need; toys, treats, bedding, crates, leashes, food, grooming tools and carriers. It all adds up so get ready! LOL Maybe you could get your friends to throw a Puppy Shower for you! We have done this for friends and it is so much fun!

Bella just went for her annual health exam and shots. She got a "Great" bill of health! But, had two infected teeth that ended up with a total of 5 teeth pulled! Poor baby! She is feeling much better today. And I am thankful for the Doggie Health savings account. The yearly vet visit with Heartworm preventive was just over $220.00 then the tooth cleaning and extractions ran just over $365.00 but worth it all for a happy healthy Bella!

About every other year Kamoku racks up the bills. So far this year Misaki scratched Kamoku's eye in Feburary. He had a huge hive that he scratched open on his cheek, again. We saw an eye specialist to see where his vision is, due to all his previous eye injuries. Misaki scratched his other eye in March, which we are still seeing the vet for, this one is a bad scratch. We get to go to the vet again tomorrow for the current eye injury. My poor mister. And my little Misaki has been quite the little devil with Kamoku. I keep telling her if Kamoku can't see you, he can't chase you! To be honest I feel just horrible for Kamoku. But I love my babies. It's my job to take care of them and get them care when needed!

I have been really lucky with my pugs. Just the usual yearly shots. My jap. chin is the one that really cost me about a year ago when he hurt his back end.
