BAD BREATH!

I should have posted this with my last post, but Ami has THE WORST BREATH! I know that drinking out of the pond doesn't help, even though we do have a bowl of water outside for them, but his breath is horrendous. We've tried doggy mouthwash, brushing his teeth (if we can get him to sit still long enough) and mint chew treats. Nothing helps. Is it normal to have such stinky breath?

He doesn't understand personal space, so when we have company over, he's up on their laps, hot garbage breath all in their face.

have you taken him to the vet to get his teeth checked? it could be he has a bad one in their that you can't see, or there may be a health issue, when we got our little trudie she was 5 and never been to the vet, (rescue) her breath was absolutely awful....horrible.....now its much better cos she eats better, but she does need to have some of them pulled. i would go to the vet...

In the smushed mouth of a pugger, there has to be enough room to fit 44 teeth. Most of the time they get crowded and grow in crooked. This will cause food to get trapped between the teeth. Brushing them helps a little, but the real cure is to get a dental done at the vets office. Get someone who is a certified K-9 dental tech., not just the vet. Some teeth may have to be removed, but the dental tech will scale the plaque off of the teeth. You will see(smell) the difference in their breath right away. There are different plaque removers that you can put in their food or water(this works the best), once the dental is done. Good Luck, I know what you are going through..... Doc

I learned the hard way. Don't wait. Take your puggy to the vet and have the teeth looked at. Having them cleaned will get rid of that nasty smell. And if you don't brush them yourself at home, try to start. It helps alot.
