Hi. When we got sookie a year ago she was distinctly a yellow fawn colour with black features. But I was comparing some old and new photos of her and she is definitely changing colour. She was already over a year when we got her so I thought she was a all grown up. Is it common for pugs to change colour? She is getting more and more black hair on her body and her legs have chocolate brown spots all over them. We aren't worried because her coat is healthy and shiny, just curious if its a normal thing with fawn pugs

Never seen two fawn pugs the same! Most have at least a few black hairs - I do believe that really high bred fawn pugs are supposed to have a little black line down the middle of their backs, but mine doesn't. Sassy grew more black hairs as she got older too. I just adore the pugs that have that sort of black smoky look all over their faces - gives them so much character! I think what happened years ago there were two distinct lines of pure bred fawn pugs that looked different and they (the pug scientists!) decided to just combine them rather than keeping the lines distinct and this is why you can get the changes - but maybe somebody else can come on and confirm that! Anyway, she is adorable either way!
