i recently discovered that charka is some kind of fruitaholic. it started with greenbeans and now he begs for (and eats) any fruit and veggies we are eating. im happy for him to eat them because i know they are full of vitamins etc. i was just wondering if there are any fruits or veggies which i shouldnt give him? ive started cooking him food with chicken and carrots and green beans and it seems to be working. hes even lost some weight. are there any other fruitaholic pugs out there?

All my dogs love berries - esp. raspberries. Other than that, different dogs like different things - peaches, bananas, but just a taste. As far as I know you are not supposed to give grapes (or raisons) onions or garlic to dogs. Sasha loves green beans too, but only will eat carrots if they are cooked!

Sam is not much of a fruit eater, but he will eat a few green beans sometimes....stellie on the other hand is addicted to all fruit and loves green beans. i can't even eat an apple without putting her out of the room, cos she literally throws a tissy screaming pug fit until she gets a bite.....we have never given trudy any yet.

Mine won't eat fresh blueberries but love it when I give them a spoonful of frozen blueberries with their breakfast!?! They pretty much eat anything I give them ... typical pugs! LOL!!
Be careful with mushrooms - I read they could be toxic to dogs!

Puck is the same as Charka. He loves any all fruits and veggies! lol. So funny! At least we know it's healthy for them!

Oh boy, I hadn't thought of that. Maggie Mae eats anythink-doesn't matter what it is, and I have a backyard full of blueberry bushes. She's only 51/2 months old so we didn't have her last summer. When they start bearing fruit in June I'll have to fence them off or she will eat till she bursts! Every thing she has ever had she thought was delicious-no picky eater here. We have the opposite problem!

Scooby is the same! He eats blueberries off the bushes, loves ALL fruits and vegetables. Only problem is if he eats too much.... he'll have loose stools for a day or so. Only thing he doesn't like is lettuce but he loves cooked spinach.

Wondered about watermelon...Bernie LOVES it and someone mention worms. But from these posts, I think it is OK.

You should not give your pup grapes (or raisins). Our pugs love pretty much anything we give them. They are loving watermelon this year, but our Winnie has a problem with the texture - takes her forever to eat it. I'm not sure if there are other fruits they should not eat.

Same here! I accidentally dropped some watermelon on the floor the other day and Loopy as the typical pug he is quickly catched it and started munching on it, it took him ages to finally swallow the little piece of watermelon but he loved it! I started letting him have the leftovers, it keeps him entertained forever and it's very healthy so it's a win win situation!

@ Marta - that's funny. Exactly how our pugs are (we have 3). Sheldon and Jake inhale anything - I'm not even sure if they chew or taste it!! Winnie on the other hand is a very slow eater and is very picky with texture. Even bananas she chews, spits out, chew, spits out, etc... And our pugs LOVE ice cubes!! They think it is such a treat. We have a large water bowl we keep in the kitchen and we fill it with cubes and water and our baby Jake "bobs for cubes". He makes such a watery mess, but he loves it and thinks he's getting treats.

Knuckles loves green beans, he will eat pretty much anything.. Roxie is a little more picky, she doesn't seem to like any of the veggies I have offered. They do like a little taste of banana sometimes.

Novalee is an apple addict. She also loves sweet potato, regular potato, corn, green beens, asparagus, carrots. I'm gonna try peaches tomorrow!

Zena also loves all fruits and vegetables, except regular carrots, she loves the baby ones, but not the big ones. And she loves watermelon, if going to ea watermelon best be prepared to share and of course she eats faster than I do, so have to make her wait for bites or she will eat too much of it.
