I have recently moved to Bali and have got very friendly with a Pug who is owned by the people i rent from. Sadly they do not know how to care for him so I have taken it upon myself to look after him and we are the best of mates...i love him dearly!
I have found some very valuable information on this site about what food he should be eating etc but i am not too sure about giving him bones to chew on and would be very happy to hear from anybody on this subject, thankyou.

Hello Nat! Glad you found us. I give my dogs merrick natural bones. They don't splinter and last forever. I get them at the pet store. Or you can order them from petsmart on line. I have never been one to give bones from meat from my table. Although certain ones are fine. I don't take that chance. Has your landlord given this pug to you for keeps? If not please share all you learn with them so they learn how to take care of him too. Glad you took on his care. Your an angel. Lots of wonderful folks on this site with lots of info. So ask away. And welcome again.

Hello!..thank you for your quick response....I don't think we have merrick bones here in Bali but I do give him the chewy ones now and again but some people have given him chicken bones which he seems to like but I am not so sure they are good for him.The people haven't exactly given Nat to me, I just take care of him and let him have sleepovers in my house and they are quite happy for me to do it! Balinese aren't noted for their care of dogs and many locals are even scared of Nat when I take him for walks!
I recently had to have a vet come visit because Nat's eyesight wasn't the best and he gave me some drops to put in but gee it is so hard to get him to keep still...sometimes a 3 person job!
But I love him greatly and he knows he has found people who love him and take care of him.
I hope you have a great day.

As a general rule you shouldn't give them cooked bones. They are more brittle and splinter. And bless you for being guardian angel to a pug. They truly are precious creatures

hi nat, welcome to the site! chicken bones are a big NO NO unless you are giving him a raw chicken neck. cooked bones, especially chicken, can splinter and get caught in his throat. i would suggest you get raw soup bones from the butcher, they can cut it to size, or sometimes they sell them at the grocery store. that is the best kind of bones to give them as they will not splinter and they love the marrow. it might be a bit messy so i give it to them outside and once the marrow is gone, they can bring them inside. kudos to you for taking on his care, he has obviously found a great buddy in you. hopefully they will just give him to you as once you are pugged, it's hard to let go. feel free to ask any other questions you might have. i'm carol, mom to rosie and mikey
