Hello pug fans!
Long time, no speak ![]()
My beautiful boy is now 1, but for the last 2-3 months we've been through quite a lot of distress with his eyes and ears.
H has recently had surgery on his right eye, due to a ruptured ulcer. He has a graft that is taking a long time to heal. It was all starting to look better but yesterday we noticed another small white bump on the very top corner of the same eye. He doesn't seem distressed by it, but we took him to the vets and they suggested we go back to the Ophthalmologist... however they said that it didn't sound like an emergency and from the picture the vet sent it didn't look like it was a ruptured ulcer, and it could wait until Monday. I just hope we've made the right call.
We're now giving him drops and ointment on his eye, but I just want this to be healed now. He's been through so much with it!!
...and to top it off, this last week, I've noticed a flakey skin on his ears and at the top of his front legs (what we call his armpits!). I've started using a hibiscrub and an ointment, and hoping this will help.
So sorry for the rant, but I know you would all understand what I'm going through. It would be great to hear from those who have been through something similar.
H is being a trooper; he's as bouncy and mad as ever!

What colour is the flaky skin and does it cause him to itch? Any other redness in the area?

Did you find out what the new white bump was?
I've seen on one site where the white bump could be cancerous, but turned out to be a fungal infection. (scroll to the very bottom of the page http://www.ownedbypugs.com/index.php/pugblog/tags/tag/eyes)

Thinking good thoughts for you and Horatio. Hope all gets cleared up!

The colour is, I would say, beige? The vets have given him a further dose of ointment as they suspect an allergy!
The vets are also still somewhat confused about the white mark on his eye, but with the drops it is starting to heal from what I can see. He's on Exocin and Optimmune (the latter for his graft) and can open his eye fully but does get a little bit of eye goop in the morning!
