Oh no-I bet she is in that hospital worrying about Zena and the cat and the bird. Tell her to get well soon and we will be thinking of her everyday. Are you able to take care of Zena, or is someone else that she trusts? I know she loves that little dog to pieces-she was so worried about the little pugger recently when she had the leg problems. I sure hope she is well soon.

Thank you all. I am not able to have Zena where I live so I am going daily to take care of her, I am looking for a local foster home for now until my Mom can take care of her again. The bird died a few months ago, and the cat got out when the ambulance took my mom to the hospital, I haven't been able to find her yet. The plan is for her to go to the Nursing home tomorrow, I don't know how long she will be there. I will keep you all updated as I know anything. She has MRSA pneumonia which is rare and bad, so recovery may be a while.

That is so right JanandSass-MRSA is not good but if Zena can get in a nice home while Rita recovers, I think that will ease her stress and speed the recovery. I hope someone near Cottage Grove Oregon will take her in for a while-wish I were close but it's thousands of miles away.

Hi Everyone, It is Rita and Zena, they just set up a computer for me here at the hospital so am tyoping and Zena is on my lap. This has been a real nightmare, they did not know if I was even going to live or not until Sunday, and of course all I could think about was my furbaby. Thank goodness Val was able to do what she has and Prayers are being answered. Valerie was doing all she could to find someone to take care of Zena for me. We had become desperate! Then God sent an Angel, she is one of my nurses here at the hospital, she has a chichuahua pug mix, and Linda and her husband said they will take care of Zena for me while I am in here, on top of that the admisisterator of the nursing facalitie here gave approval for Zena to be in here with me while Linda is on duty here, so she is here taking care of me. I am going to get well as soon as I can, but wanted to update all of you, thank you for the prayers and share an angel story with you that brings tears to my eyes. I will be on every couple of days at least and keep all informed. Am too weak yet too do alot. Thanks from Rita and Zena

Yeah! OH boy-such good news-I have been on here every free minute to hear from you!!!!!!! FANTABULOUS that Zena can come visit you-how cool. I bet getting Zena there has made you feel better already. I bet she is a big hit around there also. Your nurse sure IS an angel to take care of Zena for you and your daughter has been so good also. Keep getting better and better-what a relief! You and Zena just rest up now!

Oh WOW! I'm so excited to hear that you are doing better. I bet Zena has a smile ear to ear now. This post made my day. I think that it's just great that your angel nurse, Linda, is doing so much for you and Zena. She has a very, very, big heart. If I ever end up in a hospital, I hope my nurse is her twin.

Good Morning everyone, still pretty weak, but slowly getting better, sure do appreciate all the prayers. I can not help but get better I have the greatest nurses ever and Zena is n;umber 1! She is with me at least eight hours everyday. She has not had obedience training or hospital visitor training, but if were too be graded she would get a five star award. I am so proud of her, she has only been taught what I have taught her myself and she is so smart and so attuned to me that she just automatically does what is supposed to do. She watches and makes sure that everyone does what are supposed to for me. She has had no accidents here at the hospital or at Linda's house, she is just so perfect, or too me she is. I have a ways to go to get over this and they did not think I would live last week, thinking about my kids and worrying about Zena is what has kept me going. I need to stop for a while now. Promise to keep you as up to date as I can. Rita

Good Morning everyone, the therapist just woke me up to tell me she will be working with me in an hour. I love it when they wake you up for dumb things like that, why not let you sleep until time? Oh well, such is life! Zena was with me from two until ten yesterday and will be again today. She is my special nurse, but she shocked my angel nurse as she started barking in here yesterday, was first Linda had heard her bark, she is not a barker. But one med nurse came in and she barked at her and everytime she heard her in the hall or come in the room she would bark and growl. Shes everyone so was a real surprise. By ten I had her were she would let the lady come in and not bark and even allow her to pet her, I think her size intiminated her, about six foot four and about 350 pounds, that is a big woman. Especally next to less than 5 foot and at 80 pounds which is me right now. I am slowly getting better and see my regular doctor tomorrow morning ... she will come here. Yesterday my doctor actually sent someone from her office to come check on me and make sure am getting everything I need. I am surely blessed to have such caring people in my life. I will try to get a picture one day this week of Zena visitint me here and post for you. Thank you for the kind thoughts, the pug love and all the prayers. They all help me fight this so Zena and I can be home together soon. Rita

Hi Everyone, I must be getting better as is only eleven in the morning and I am Bored! Zena will not be here until ten o'clock tonight as Linda works graveyard tonight. So Zena will be spending the night with me, have my little snuggler for the night. But is going to be an eternity until she gets here as slow as the day is going. I am not complaining is nice to have a break from physicial therapy, I did not realize how many muscles can complain at once. ha ha I am really sore that is for sure. I finally asked them to please slow it down a little was just a little more than I can handle yet. They are real good here to do that. And I fired the speech therapist they had me seeing, had nothing to do with my speech but because I have pneumonia were worried about my swallowing, so would watch me eat and determine if could have regular food or not. Well that female (not with nice empathis on female) decided that since have been running a temperature I should still have ground up food. Yesterday was the last straw, I had already filed a complaint the day before with administration, so they had a waiver for me to sign, but somehow it did not make it to me. Well after they sat down what was supposed to have been pork roast in front of me and it was ground up and dry and so hard could not stick a fork in it. I lost my temper which is something I very rarely do. Even poor Zena looked at my dinner plate and then at me with an expression of Mom, what is that? Well the waiver has now been signed and I should get decent food now. And if that speech therapy female comes in my room I intend to ask her to leave and not come back! My kids have decided I am getting better as fighting back. Maybe I am part Pug, don't mess with my food, especially when I am hungry. Sorry post was so long. Will let you know how it goes with Zena spending the night with me tonight. Rita

OMG. ugh, ugh, ugh. There is nothing worse than hospital food! Esp. the ground up mucky stuff! Have never seen roast anything in a hospital here - just soups and stewed this that and the other! But glad to hear you are bored - you must be getting better! It is such a blessing to have nurse Zena with you tonight - warm little pudgy body to snuggle with!

Hi Everyone, Zena spending the night last night went real well, only she did not want to lave at six this morning wanted to snuggle instead. She will b spending the night agan tionight. I need some extra prayers again, I started running a temp of 102.2 at eight last night and has only gone back down to 100.4 as of an hour ago. They are strarting me on antibiotics again in the morning and said if my temp goes up to 103 is back to regular hospital. Do not want that to happen, want to get rid of this so can be home with Zena . Will keep you posted. Rita

Hi, Just a quick update, still fighting with the nighttime elevated temps which is not a good thing, but are not going as high, so that is encouraging. Zena will be here in a few minutes, is so nice to have her here several days a week. Means alot to me and to her. She hates giving me a kiss to leave when time for her to go home, she wants to snuggle down next to me instead. Hopefully am on road to recovery and before much longer can be home with her all the time. In the meantime am doing all I can to be able to get well enough to get out of here. Then going to treat myself to a nice steak dinner, food in these places leave a lot to be desired to say the least. Rita

Good to hear from you-keep resting, taking medicine, and try to eat everything, even though I know it is very yucky! So wonderful that Nurse Zena is still coming often! Keep dreaming about that steak-you'll get it soon! It's good that the fever is a lower grade-you are hopefully getting out of there soon.

Hi Everyone,I am going to share a secret with all of you that I am not supposed to know, but my daughter let it slip by accident today. I am really, really praying for this to become a reality! It seems my special angel nurse Linda, who takes care of Zena for me, is now working on whatever it is she has to do for me to go live with them when I leave here instead of an assisted living place. It would be so perfect for me as they live in the country and I have been a country girl all my life and they plant a big garden which I could also spend time doing. Zena and I would be together and I would be living in a home again. I almost got caught by Linda writting this had to click off real fast and then come back. Anyway will still be a while before I get out of here, plus will take about a month for Linda to get the approval for me to live there. So just need to say our prayers that it comes to be. God knows what people we need in our lives and he puts them there. Rita and Zena

Hi Everyone, Well had my three week evaluation yesterday and I am doing good according to them. I will still be here another three to four weeks, would like it to be less but oh well, at least I am improving and slowly getting my strength back. Zena comes every afternoon at 2 and stays until 10, the highlight of my day! She is getting a new puppia harness this morning, as somehow before I ended up in the hospital the fastener on hers got broke. So a couple of days ago I called the only place here that handles them and had them hold the only pink one they had in her size and Linda is picking it up today as she had to go right near the store where it is. We weighed Zena ;yesterday and she weighes exactly 13 pounds. She is just right! We should know later today or Monday if I get to go to Linda's, she had to go to a special class for that today for the state. Will keep you posted. Thank you for all the prayers. Love Rita and Zena

All this is wonderful-so glad you are getting better and stronger! Zena is a nice weight! MaggieMae is 14 lbs. but she has been holding it there for about a month-I hope that means she won't end up too much more-but I know she might-at LEAST her FAST puppy growth is slowing way down-she is 8 months and she truly is large boned. What size puppia did you get? I bet Linda will be a slam-dunk on getting cleared by the state-she is so wonderful and a nurse too! Good luck!!!!!

MaggieMae, I got a size medium harness for her. Zena is 2 and a half and has been holding this weight for several months. She is a small pug. Zena has small bones. She is asleep in my lap as I write this. Not for long a few more minutes then I have to go for more physical therapy.

Hi Everyone, A weekly update. I am slowly getting better and able to do more each day. Zena is here almost everyday with me, she missed last night, but will spend the night with me tonight, miss tomorrow and then see her each day during the rest of the week. I should with luck get out out here just before Easter, about three weeks or a little less from now. I sure hope so as I am really tired of this place and I want some good home cooked food that looks and tastes like food! Mainly I just want out of here and to be home with Zena. Still have not heard on rather going to Linda's or some place else. My daughter got the place I was living emptied out and everything into storage for me until I know what is going on. I wish I could just have a little place with just Zena and I, shall have to wait and see what happens. Rita

I've never had hospital food before and never have been in one other than in Vietnam, if you want to call that a hospital. Lexi is on my lap making sure that all my spelling is right.HA! Aren't our little puggers just the greatest things since milk?? We are still praying for you both and are expecting nothing but good to happen. Oh my goodness have you been eating hospital food all this time? I was in hospital for a week last summer and thought I would go mad, the food was so bad. It seemed to be mostly mush - mushy potatoes, apple sauce, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, awful! Keep on getting stronger so you can get out and have good food - praying for you to find a lovely little place where you and Zena can reside together. I know she is what is pulling you through this tough time, bless her little heart!

Hi a quick note this evening. My daughter just called me and said that they found Mischief ( my cat), no one had seen her since they put me in the ambulance and took me to the hospital Feb. 7th. Anyway my daughter and granddaughter went by where I had been living to get my wind chimes they forgot and the cat was there at the door. So my granddaughter took her home with her and would like to keep her, so that will work out great. And makes me feel much better knowing she is okay and where she is. And Zena and I can visit her when I get out of here! Rita

Zena says....I am so happy my mom is coming home!! Hi, everyone, as you can see have great news, I am getting out of this place, offically will be out of here Monday, but if my oxygen gets delivered tomorrow and if wheel chair gets here tomorrow, may try to move that forward to Sunday or even Saturday! Yes, I will be going to Linda's, but they have to release me to my daughter ( then where I go is okay), but I can not be released to go to Linda's as medicare considers it a conflict of interest. Mainly because they will not be able to get more money from me. Anyway things are in motion and soon will be home with my babies, as my granddaughter is sending the cat too me ( we have permission) when I get out of here, seems she growls at her dog and cat. She is used to Zena and I and really not socialable with anyone else. Has been with me since four weeks old when I rescued her. So glad getting her back and we will all be together again. Thank all of you for all our prayers and I will update you on my new place once out of here. Rita

Today is THE DAY, instead of Zena coming to visit me, I will be going home to her! And will not be coming back here, finally getting out of here, bout time, went in hospital Feb 7, came here Feb 13. So been here way too long! Will be shutting this down in about an hour so will be a day or two before can get back on.
