little pug bitting

ok so here the thing Toby is now 2 months, and is biting us everytime he gets close even if we are playing with him, he bites us in the hands, finger and even toes. i dont no if that the way he is playing although the bites do hurt. or if it because he is teething. i try to redirect him to his chewing toys but it doesnt seem to help. i mean we have tried giving him different chew toys but he even bites my two year old son. i dont no what else to do. so if anyone has any suggestion im all ears.  thanks

My parents dog did the same thing. My dad finally broke him of it by picking him up by the scruff, giving him a little shake and saying no in a really harsh voice. It might sound mean but thats how mother dogs correct their pups. Hope this might help you.

a tap on the nose to get her attention and a stern no biting and touch her teeth or mouth and repeat no! it worked really well.  Then give him a toy to chew on.  For the teething we gave pugly carrots and broccoli stumps.

When my Gizmo was a little girl she used to be a finger biter...not hard and I doubt if she could have broken the skin if you'd have given her all day long.

What my mom ended up doing to break Gizmo of the habit was if you were petting/playing with Gizmo and she started to try and bite fingers, my mom would push her fingers down into Gizmo's mouth where she would cough/gag a little.  She never vomited or anything like that, but she learned very quickly that human fingers in her mouth was not the most enjoyable thing ever.  Within 2 weeks she was through with finger biting.  YMMV

Puggielove. Remember scruffing your pup, is how the mother dog disaplens. So use it, but don't lift the pup off the floor. DO USE NO BITE! command loudly. When you release him, if he continues to bite again, then do the scruff again. If he still keeps doing it. Put him in his pen for time out. He will get the message. But remember too, that this is how dogs play.

ok i trired the scuffing and i didnt even do it hard but then he made a wipper noise and took off running, i felt bad so i only did it once and now every time he is biting us hard after i tell him no and i walk toward him he starts to run away. i understand thats one way of them playing with us but he bits hard he even leaves tooth marks on my son, and now that i found out that im pregnant i wish he would stop biting hard. i wouldnt want him to bit the new baby when he/she is born. thank u guys again

Speaking of dogs biting, I got bit last Tuesday night at New students night. Right in the nose. This wasn't play biting though. Had a new student with a Pit. It was lunging at other people and dogs as they went by. The student was filling out his paper work and had his 9 year old daughter holding the dog. I went over and told the man I would take the dog over away from other dogs till he finished. I took lead and the dog jumped up and got me across the nose. OUCH! It wasn't a bad bite but left my nose bleeding and now I have a scabe the size of a pea on top of my nose. The man didn't even apolizie. His dog got wrote up for it. If it does it again he's out. A lady sitting behind him, saw it happen and went white as a ghost She goes, I saw that OMG! I can tell this little boy is going to be a hand full. I am mad at myself as I didn't see it comin. Stupid me!
