Male pug problems

So my male bug Brutus has a few bad habits I can't seem to break him of. One of our biggest problems with him is he likes to get a hold of cigarette packs. He just chews up the boxes, never the cigarettes. They are left intact or just broken from the tearing up of the package itself. I have tried putting Cayenne Pepper on a few empty boxes but he seems to like it more. What are some options that I have? My other problem is that he likes to pee on boots and folding chairs. And only on particular peoples. We don't have the problem at home but when we visit a friend of ours he always pees on his military boots. It is not even the same pair but just his boots. Then he will only pee on his sons folding chair. We have scrubbed it with various cleaners and even gotten a new one. I just have no idea what to do about it. Brutus is not fixed, but at this point I think it might be one of my only options.

I think getting him fixed is your first step on the urinating issue. Don't leave cigarette boxes within his reach and eventually they shouldn't attract him anymore, if they are reachable to him then he is going to try to get them. I have this problem with my Pug and my shoes, but in the end it really is my fault and I have to make sure they aren't attainable unless I want to pay the consequences!

When you take your pug on outings, keep him leashed and at your side. Watch for him to sniff and give a leash correction(snapping of the lead) and say, "LEAVE IT!" When he figures it out, then let him off lead, but watch him like a hawk. If he does it again. Repeat training. Hope this helps.

Also, I smoke as well. I keep my smokes and lighter on top of counters. They cost to much to let my pug have one. Teehee. I forgot to ask. Is your male pug neutered? If not you mit want to think about having that done. It would help with this.

My advice is to Pug proof as much as possible, and then when naughty Puggy attempts to pee on or eat something he shouldn't, squirt the dickens out of him with a squirt bottle full of water. Once he makes the connection that doing some action gets him squirted, you should be on the road to a major improvement.

In related news, Charlie, my foster Puggle, decided to pee in my shoes on Monday morning. He hasn't had an accident in the house in months. But he came out of the bedroom, rounded the corner into the kitchen, and proceeded to fill my new Nikes. They matched the outfit I was wearing and I had to make a less suitable shoe choice! The horror!

I agree with Red, the water gun works wonders! I had to carry one in the house for weeks. And I must say that I got quite good with it! LOL One shot to the .......target just below the tail! LOL And that will stop annything!
