Suddenly Jr has decided to skip a meal. If I hand feed him he will eat but I dod't want to get into that habit. All his body functions are normal and he plays with all the vigor of a puppy. He's 3 years old and has never turned down food. I feed him Iams beef and vegetables, sometimes a scrambled egg or a small pc of cooked chicken. Is this cause for alarm? The last vet check up was fine. Can anyone suggest something.
Thanks.

Could be just a temporary upset tummy. When he is laying down, bend down and put your ear next his tummy - if a lot of gurgling (his, not yours) then that's probably it. Keep an eye on him, watch his bowel movements also. If it continues beyond 48 hours, get a stool sample and take it to the vet - and get him checked over again. He is a lovely boy. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Is he bloated? Are his stools soft or hard? How often do you feed him? It's probably nothing, but keep a close eye on him anyway.

My 2 year old pug, Winnie has started doing this also. She will sometimes only eat if we hand feed her which (like you) we didn't want to get into the habit of this). So, we will hand feed her a couple pieces and sometimes she will start eating on her own sometimes not. We have started putting her food away if she doesn't eat by the time our other 2 pugs are finished their food. And after "skipping" a meal she always eats her next meal. I think sometimes maybe she is just not hungry so we don't try to force her. She has her routine vet visit this week and I am going to mention it but I don't really think it is a concern. Good luck!

Peyton does that sometimes ... and I will hand feed him. Sometimes he just refuses to eat but like z28susan said - after "skipping" a meal he is usually pretty hungry by the next meal.

I did what JanandSass suggested and he is normal. As docand suggested, his stool samples are normal and I feed him twice a day, 5 oz per feeding. Everything seems normal. I think he's going through a 'phase' of just being stubborn. I also figured out that I get more concerned about his eating habits than he does. Turns out that when he's hungry, he eats.
Thanks for your comments guys, appreciate your opinions.

Sofia did this to us for a while. She'd probably skip 3-5 meals a week.
She was very protective of her food (if Baxter tried to go eat it, she'd growl and make him go away), but she'd just sit and stare at it.
Seemed to just be a phase, though. Lasted a few months. She eats fine now.
