My Violet is always cold!

Ok, I just don't know what to do for my violet. She is crate trained and sleeps in her crate at night. We keep her in our bedroom and its usually the warmest room in the house. But, when I wake up at night I can always hear her shivering. She sleeps on a fleece blanket I made for her and I try to tuck her into it and she won't stay. But once she gets cold I don't think she makes the connection to go under the blanket.
Any ideas of what I can do for her? I can bring a space heater in that we have. It's one of those tower ones that blows warm air like a fan, not one that can cause a fire, but I don't know if that's a good idea for a puppy? Violet is only 10 weeks old so I know part of the problem is she is so little, but have any of you guys gone through this?

Oh the poor little sweetheart! My Ravi was not cold because as an 8week old, he was snuggled in bed with me.LOL Sounds like your doing lots of things to keep her warm. Is the shivering from cold I wonder, or is she missing you? Dont know but lots of folks on here can give you good advice. Usha

I was certain I had replied to this post days ago! It was a long one too so I'll just make this one short and sweet. When I leave Boone during the day in winter I sometimes leave him with a hot water bottle. It's in a fluffy cover and I wrap it under his blanket and he lies on top of it...it stays warm all day. This will be handy at time time as long as Violet isn't a chewer? But I assume that at bed time she'll just curl up and go to sleep like Boone does. He saves those restless moments when he likes to wreck the place for when I'm in work lol.

Hope this helps

Oh, poor baby. You need to get her a sweater. The hot water bottle is a good idea too. But I would also try taking her into the bed and see if the shivering stops. (Well, lots of people have their puggies in their beds. Sassie sleeps in our bed on top of the electric blanket.)

Thank you guys so much for the suggestion! I am going to try the water bottle, but not sure if it will work because she does like to chew!!

I really want her to sleep with us but she is so tiny and my husband and I have an extra deep pillow top mattress and she can not get up or down on her own. I'm so scared that she will fall!

My pugs have tons of clothes ... as soon as the temperature starts to drop they get cold and we end up turning on the heat. We even have a heated mattress pad ... mostly for them!

During the Fall and Winter they usually wear pajamas as soon as I get home from work. And sometimes they sleep in them - except Webster & Liberty. I don't know if the black pugs are more hot-blooded than the fawn, but they usually pant like crazy. OF COURSE - they both hate wearing clothes!

The clothes is a good idea too, I'd never thought of that! I don't know Boone would react to clothes though. My mum once tried to dress him for Halloween and he put all his efforts in tearing it off.

Boone sleeps in my bed. Well, on the bed. I don't allow him under the duvet because of all the fur. I put a dark coloured blanket over my duvet and he sleeps on that, but never seems cold. I never thought pugs as getting cold though because they have so so much fur.

Also, have you heard of something called a snuggle sack? My friend told me about it, I think it's more of an American thing. Have a look into it x

Could it be your crate is to close to a air vent? In cold weather I sometimes cover my dog crates with those flannel throws you can get cheap. Leave alittle open on the cage door side.

Thank you KatB. That may be, I know it's close to a window so I will try moving it tonight. Maybe there is a draft!
