New to the Family

Hello.  We have just adopted a 7 year old Pug by the name of Sir Charles.  Poor Charlie is a little overweight.  So, we are going to remedy that as quickly as possible.  I don't have any background info. on Charlie.  All I've been told is that he was crate trained and does very well with cats and children.  This is our first night with Charlie.  I don't think he quite knows what to think of us.  My husband and I have 2 children.  Our daughter is 11 and our son is 8.  We also have a very dominant resident cat by the name of Sabre.  The first thing Charlie did after we introduced him to the cat is make a "no-no" in Sabres bed.  The cat has since fled to the basement in shame, I believe.  If anyone out there has any advice for a new Pug owner, please don't be shy.  We are going to need all the help we can get.

Hi, and welcome to PugSpot.  You will find answers to just about any question you could think of, on this site.  I'm Doc and have 3 girls. A lab, a pug, and a cat.  They are all sisters and they think they're triplets(HA)!  Being over weight in a pug is just like a person being over weight except that there are issues dealing with breathing that can be reduced by loosing the extra weight.  Good luck on being owned by a pug.  Please post some pictures.            Doc and his girls

First, wecome to Pug Spot Sir Charles!  And congratulations on your new addition to your family!  I have to laugh about the little "gift" Sir Charles left for Sabre!  It sounds like Sir Charles wants to establish who is going to rule the house.  LOL  I would enroll Sir Charles in obediance classes as soon as you can.  This will set you and your human family members as the ones in charge and teach both you and Sir Charles how to communicate with eachother.  The classes are fun and teach you how to teach Sir Charles things you want him to know.

My name is Marti and my two pugs are Desi and Bella  :p

God bless you for adopting Charlie!  We were in a similar boat 1 year ago when we adopted our pug, Angel.  Pugs are wonderful dogs and you will be "pugged' before you know it!
