On our way to Burlington Iowa Dog show Saturday

Hello everyone, we are off again tomorrow for a one day show for Ludwig and I. This time in Burlington, Iowa, at the Southeastern Community College, West Burlington, Iowa. This is a small show. Large dogs will show outside, and Medium and small inside the college. I really like this show. This is where Ludwig got his first two majors toward his Championship, a year ago. Usually do both Saturday and Sunday, but this year we were unable to get a hotel room. So we are just doing Saturday. We have five members of our kennel club showing their dogs. And three senior members coming along to watch us. One is our past president, and one of my mentors. I am excited that she is going along. Dogs showing are my Japanese Chin Ludwig, a Bearded Collie owned by my BFF, she will also be showing a Long Coat Chihuahuas for our past president, a Min Pin, a Brittiny, and a newbie to showing a Flat coated retriever. It's been a long time since some of the senior members have attended a show. So I know this will be a treat for them, and it will be so special to have them watching us.

I will update you all on how we do, when I return home. Wish us all luck. We aren't that many from our club that show dogs anymore, and the numbers are starting to rise again. We all work really hard, and enjoy this so much. It's kind of like a vacation with our dogs. We get to do something fun with them. There is only one other Japanese Chin entered in this show. Ludwig is entered as a Dog Special, and the other dog is a Dog special as well. We will compete against each other for Best of Breed. So everyone, cross fingers. Please think Best of Breed and Group ring, for me and Ludwig, and for all of our members to have great wins. Thanks everyone.

Update everyone. It was a really nice day at the show. Ludwig won Best of Breed, and the Judge Mrs. Carolyn A. Herbel was wonderful. I was told after we won, by the ring stewart that she has raised and shown Japanese chin for 22 years, with two BIS. Very impressive. She had very nice things to say about Ludwig when we possed for our Win photo. As I had said above I went up against another Dog Special. I didn't know who it was until before ring time. Mrs. Herbel said Ludwig was everything he was suppose to be and more. Can't get any better than that. So I am really proud. It is always nice to have a judge spend more time with you after you are done. She gave me some really good advice.
The other great news is that Four out of Five of us members went Best of Breed, we all went to group but didn't place in group. The fifth person won his class winning 1st, winners dog for a 4 point major. We are all so proud of ourselves. LOL!
Attention Docand! This is just for you. My BFF and I had our picture taken for the Dog magacine the Cronicles. Don't know what issure, but Julie and I, and our dogs got our picture taken for it. We are just sitting around in grooming watching the show, and the photographer asked to take our picture. So LOL, it's a start. When I find out which one, I will make sure I get a copy and post it just for you. LOL. Pretty sweet.

Once again Congratulations! Remember when you were first starting and how worried you were that you would not do good, look at you now! So proud of you and Ludwig. And you are going to be on the front of a magazine, see Docand knew what he was talking about, LOL. Rita and Zena

Jessica it was fun, I was alittle disappointed though, there was suppose to be one pug to be shown, but they didn't show up. Alot of times when the count for each breed(number of each breed showing) if there is only one, the drop out. Shame as that people do that, They spend the money for the entery, and it is a sure win of BOB. I really would have liked to see it, as I always go over and introduce myself and love on the pugs. LOL. I sure hope someday I can afford to get a show pug.

JanandSass, Yes I will. They posted them on their web page, and I picked out the one I wanted. Says they should come to me in about two weeks. But it usually doesn't take that long. It's a nice picture too. HA!

Congratulations Kat and Ludwig!!!!!!!!! I could have swore I seen your pictures on the front of some magazine,,,,,,,,maybe not. I guess it must have been someone else. Won't be long though. Lexi is already asking about pictures of Ludwig to pin on her wall. She even has a new dress that she wants to model for him(I think maybe she thinks that she might just be a famous model sometime). Can't wait to see the pictures! Doc and Lexi

Thank you docand. The picture that the lady took for the cronicles, I am hoping will be at one of the shows we are planning on entering in Sept. That should be the next issue, not sure though. They usually lay out boxes of this magazine at each doorway for all the handlers to get one. We will look for it.

Thank you everyone. Rachel, it is perfectly exceptable to use words like beautiful, lovely, gorgous, etc. on a male chin. The are a delicate flower, and believe me, they know they are beautiful. LOL! When i am in the ring at a show, and stacking him on the floor in front of the judge, I tell him how beautiful he is, how pretty he is, and it makes him shine for me. His tail goes high over his back, and he stands perfect for the judge. I only tell him that when he is on the table or stacking on the floor. It turns he on. These are his magic words.
