Peanut butter and kong???

I bought Baxter a Kong and put peanut butter inside to keep him busy for a little while.

I read on here someone saying that they put there's in the freezer so it last longer, I tried this and when I gave it to him it fell out the kong in one big hard chunk lol. is there a trick to it?

Thanks

I always just spooned it way up inside of the Kong. Maybe you left it in the freez to long TeeHee. I'm sure someone will come along with a better way. HAHA!

Hello,

I was actually going to start a post about Kongs. I was planning on buying one online for my pug but not sure about the size since I can't see them in person. Should I but a small or a medium one for my 6 month old pug. I am already buying a large for my husbands lab and then thinking of getting a medium for Dunkin my Pug.  : )

@Keg: I think it actually depends on your peanut butter (as weird as that sounds). Some peanut butter just freezes harder than others (I think "smoother" peanut butter does better).

@MustLovePugs: I think we have mediums for our pugs.

That's funny!  Fell out of the Kong - bet the puggie did her happy dance!  HAH!

we have a small one for Sacha, she carries the small end in her mouth so it looks like a giant soother.

Hmm. I've never had trouble with PB in Luna's Kongs. I use Simply Natural PB by Skippy I think.

We used the peanut butter Kong filler and Stan was sick afterwards bles him.  It was too rich so we've given it to my mother in law for her dog to try

when mikey had to go thru the treatment to get rid of heartworm, i had to keep him quiet for 6 weeks, he was only about 1 1/2-2 years old at the time so it was definitely a feat. what i would do was make a mixture of plain yogurt and peanut butter, and make a parfait of sorts in the kong. i'd put a few kibbles in it to cover the small hole, then fill with the peanut butter mixture (we call it puggy ice cream over here), then a few more kibbles pressed in at the end...in the freezer it would go. they loved it and it kept him and rosie busy for a while.

You can buy kong filler (looks like spray cheese) at Petco/PetSmart. It's kinda over priced when you can just put peanut butter in there!  I bought our pugs a small size kong for when they were puppies, and now they're 9 months and 1.5y years, and I think they need a medium. But, they still like the small one.

I have always looked at the kongs but I never bought one.  Sounds like a good puggie christmas present.  Peanut butter will make them go crazy!  I love the idea!

I have a  medium Kong for Zeus...he loves the peanut butter filling-never thought to freeze it though, thanks for the idea...he's chasing his kong around the house as we speak...it seems like it would be too much to fill it with peanut butter (whenever he has anything with sugar he goes crazy!)...so i just spoon in a little bit around the inner rim of the wide end. I love the kong-I got mine at a dollar store for about $2-just a thought if you haven't already purchased one! Happy kong-ing!

~ Kongs are a favorite here.

Zuji loves chewing on them, peanut butter or not.
