Picking out my puppy tomorrow any tips?

It's finally been 8 weeks and now I can finally take home one of the breeders puppies there are 3 males. Anyone have any tips on how to choose which little guy to take home?

We just did the same thing.  The breeder put the 4 pups on the ground & 1 immediately was bold & began biting my shoe & dress & because I have another pug (only 10 months old) & a 7 year old, I thought he was a bit too aggressive...another pup wouldn't move from his spot at all so he was elimated.  The other 2 were both precious but the one kept getting closer & closer to me & snuggling & seemed to have such a sweet personality just like my pug Chloe that we decided on him...

Just take time with the pups - make sure the pup you pick looks healthy & has a good "coat".  I think once you are there & you meet them, you will just "know" which one is meant to be yours!  GOOD LUCK!!!!

it's going to be hard, they will all be so cute but here's what i would do....watch how the puppies play together. you want one that is active but not the bully of the group. stay for a while with the pups until they calm down. once they calm down, see how they are. they should be curious and want to come to you and check you out. i wouldn't pick one that is very shy or too aggresive...do one that is somewhere in the middle. look for one with clear bright eyes and a soft shiny coat. you can check their nares and their breathing as if the one has little slits, you might have to get his nares widened later. take a puppy and see how it is away from the rest of the litter. pick up the puppy and make sure his belly is clear from any rashes, his wrinkles are nice and clean and free from any problems along with looking in his ears to make sure those are ok. bring a little toy and see how he reacts to it and if he engages in play or even whistle at him to see if he reacts. go with your gut, if you think something is wrong, something probably is even if it means that you don't come home with a puppy. ask the breeder plenty of questions about the parents, thier personality, any health concerns, etc. also, see what kind of health guarentee they are giving you. remember to ask what kind of food they are feeding them, they might even give you some to take home. you want to keep him on that food until you decide that you want to change. that's all i can think of right now, i'm sure other will chime in with suggestions. good luck and be careful that you don't come home with all 3 . can't wait to meet your new little guy!

Laurie222, Sounds like you were able to control yourself. I would have taken them all. HA! Seriously, You did the right thing. You held back and watched. You get an A+  And Bubba333, All the above  is really great advise. I would really follow it.

Believe me KatB, I had the urge to take all 4 of those precious pups home!  My husband & daughter were no help - they loved them all too...but we just really tried to watch the pups & see which one we thought would be a good friend to Chloe.  I can't wait to bring "Charlie" home next Saturday!!!

Congratulations!!! When we got Mugzy i kept thinking the same thing... how will i decide and my husband said it's your pick.... right when i walked in i sow the three males and right away i could tell one was super hyper the other was super shy and kept running away and Mugzy seemed like the mix of the two and came up and sat right on my feet and just looked up and i was like this is the one . It was the best decision we've ever made!

Zuji (9 months ago)

~ Zuji had two sisters. They were 7 weeks old in a small cage.

Zuji was active with such a soft coat. He wasn't at all happy about being placed in a carrier.

I put my fingertips in it to calm him. A friendship was born.
