Slow feeder bowls for pugs

I checked around; which are recommended for pugs since they don't have long snouts?

Our Angel inhales her food and we need to get her to slow down.  It has caused her to throw up at least twice.

Have never had to get one of these bowls, but hear really good things about them. worth a try in my book.

Webster eats really fast so I got this bowl for him ... http://www.amazon.com/Skid-Stop-Slow-Feed-Bowl/dp/B00251EPL2  I think it took him about 30 seconds to figure out how to dump it over so then he ate even faster. After 3 days I gave up! I should have ordered a metal one - this one is plastic and I wasn't too crazy about it anyway, but it was on sale so I thought I'd try it.

I have NO idea if this actually works or not, I haven't tried it, but I remember seeing the commercial.  www.whoabuddy.com They show a short snouted breed on the video, I think it's a french bulldog.  So it might work.

Our Rosie needs to eat out of a stainless steel bowl, otherwise she tends to get quite a few pimples. Most of the bowls made for this problem that I saw were plastic so not an option for her. We found putting two golf balls in her bowl works great. First we tried one and her bowl was big enough that she could just push it aside and gobble away so we stuck another one in with it. Two seems to be just right for her and she really has to move them around to get to the food. She hasn't choked on her food since we started doing this (something that had been occurring about twice a week before) and her mouth is just too small to actually pick up the golf ball - and she seems to have no desire to do so either. We just stick the balls in the dishwasher a few times a week to keep them clean!

I think I will try the golf balls, or nice clean round rocks.  Sass usually gets water put on top of her food, not to soak it but to slow her down.  However, when she does get to the food, she still scarfs it down!

Thanks colemattson - I will have to try golf balls. My husband used to play so I'm sure there are a couple of golf balls sitting around somewhere! Liberty is a mini-Webster! She has started eating really fast, too! Then she tries to get more food. Zoe and Peyton just growl at her so she usually backs off - for now!

Ming used to inhale her food and then throw up. i couldn't find a slow feeder bowl so i placed a large rock/stone in her bowl. it really slowed her down and she seemed fine with eating around it. now she eats very calmly and even stops for a rest occasionally in between bites!

Wow! I am still in the "Cave Man" days ... I had no idea these bowls existed ...lol. Leo tends to inhale his food, resulting in vomiting at times, and choke sounds. I think I may invest in one of these. Thanks for the tip.

I bought one of the metal bowls with what looks like a ball in the middle for my Rocky because he snarfles his food like he`s never getting another bite. Did not slow him down a little bit. That was a waste of $15.00

I have a slow down food bowl for Molly and Stan. They have lots of different types. There is a metal one with a ball that rolls around in it. There are plastic ones with weird compartmenty dividers, but plastic can harbor bacteria even if you wash it every day. My personal favs are the metal bowls with an oddly shaped raised area in the center and a ceramic one that has a bone shaped area in the middle. Check out Drs. Foster and Smith online. They have several choices.

I had no idea these bowls even existed! Boone eats so fast he musn't even get to taste his food!

I've noticed that when I add some dog biscuits to his wet, canned food, he tends to slow down as it takes him longer to chew through the biscuits. I accidentally came accross Winalot biscuits in my local shop as an impulse buy. Turns out they're pretty huge. A couple of them on his food and he slows down Although if he has too many, he has bad wind for hours!!
