Some kind of rash/dryness under Boone's arm

Last week I noticed a kind of dry flakey skin under Boone's arm, kind of like his armpit/chest. It was crusty and yellow, almost like a kid's dry snotty nose. It was only under one of his arms. So I thought I'd come on PugSpot to ask you guys for a bit of advice. It didn't seem to bother him and it wasn't sensitive or anything. But last night I checked and it's gone! But I just wanted to see what you guys thought, incase it came back.

A few weeks ago when I switched his shampoo I had noticed slight red/pinkness under both his arms, but again this never seemed to bother him so I wondered if it was because of the shampoo change cus this has gone now too.

My personal opinion is that it is often from too much bathing. Every couple of months is lots. If it is where he cannot reach it - really can't reach it, I would try a bit of Polysporin - or some Panalog from the vet. Best to let the vet look at it.

I agree with Jan....I wonder if that is an area that stays more damp after his bath...i have to dry sam really good cos those are his trouble areas also.

I'll make a note of those creams. I don't think he can scratch it, lick it possibly.

I'm glad you've said that about bathing cus I hardly bath Boone, usually every few months. Apart from the puggy nose smell that I clean often, he ever smells of anything except the usually doggy smell.

I'd just been avoiding the vets this week as I'm moving house on Saturday into another area miles away didn't want to register twice (he hasn't yet needed the vets in the area we're in, we only moved here in September.) But I'll be sure to take him once we're settled in our bew home. Hopefully the scabby rash won't come back!

PS. Any shampoo recomendations? I just get an ordinary dog shampoo from the store for sensitive dogs. I'm interested in this 'Pethead' shampoo if anyone has tried it??

Vicki, you can also try a combo of anti-bactiral spray and neosporin. My Sulynn use to get those under her armpits and on her tummy.
