Hi There, Our pug was five yrs. old when we lost him nearly a year ago. His story is under a post called HeartBroken. He is not deceased. It's a long story. But we are searching for him. His name is Tankster. Your question about your dog's weight? I can help you answer that. Tankster was SOLID MUSCLE because we kept a firm limit on his people treats. He loved PIZZA. and anything with lots of cheese! LOL He did NOT like pet treats at all. He just plain wouldn't touch them and we tried nearly every brand you could think of. We DID notice that whenever we would see and meet other pugs they were all so FAT!!! The people would always tell us that they were prone to out of control weight-gain and also prone to seizures because the shape of their head causes pressure on the front of the brain. Unfortunately we DID have that problem with Tankster. He also had asthma which is another reason we kept such tight control on his weight. So many pugs die from asthma attacks and heart attacks because of too many people treats. It's hard to say no to them. But if you love him say NO. I even had to send him out of the room while I ate my dinner. It was easier on him and easier on me. I didn't feel so much like I was being stingy and depriving him of something. But yes, most pug owners have a problem with their pets being over-weight. by the way! He's adorable! You'll be a gr8 mommy too!
