Backwards sneeze??

Pugs in this video: Lilly

Wow, so I totally did not mean to get this on camera. I was taping Lilly because she was walking on her hide legs because she was sniffing out chicken on the counter. All the sudden she started to snort :( When I stopped taping she came and sat on my lap and sort of burped and it stopped. Do you think it's a backwards sneeze??

lol. That sounds like an inverse sneeze to me! Puck does it sometimes and he always looks so concerned, but once it stops he's back to normal.

Yep, she was back to normal after it stopped.  I sound like such a dork in this video, please ignore my voice!

Sissy does that as well.  She is my first pug and I didnt know about the reverse sneeze.  Scared me to death the first time it happened!!!  Just give them lots of love, it seems to scare them a little bit too.  Sissy always looks very converned when it is happening.

HA!  You sound really young and worried.  All my doggies do that once in a while.  I am not sure why.  I know they tend to do it more when the cats are around.

Lilly is only a little over a year and a half.  Scared the sh*t out of me to see her trying to breathe and not be able to catch her breath.  I may be young but I'm still a caring, worrying mommy.

Peanut does it too, Freaked me out to no end the first time she did it, she tends to do it when she has been sniffing too much. I just rub her throat and talk to her it calms her down

Of course you are, I just felt bad cause when stuff like this happens, it makes us kind of regress into little kids because it scares us.  She is a real pretty little girl.  Sacha does this and so do all my other dogs once in a while - it still scares me, but everybody has been ok so far.  I find it kind of helps if you - exactly as you did, give them a rubbies and try to calm them down.  I think part of it kind of scares them too.  Dear Lilliane's Mommy, I wasn't trying to insult you, I'm sorry if it sounded like that.

Lola does that also. I have gotten scared before because she has choked on food before and I had to give a doggy hymlick (sp?). But I do what you did and just try to quiet her or distract her and it goes away.

Rex did this for the first time a few weeks back, scared the crap out of us and Rex! Asked vet, they said best thing to do is rub chest or sides, even cover nose (forces them to breathe out) til it passes; vet says can happen randomly, exicited, after a nap (Rex had been asleep and recently woke) or an allergy.
